Once again, the summer season is shaping up to be hotter than ever in the 3 Valleys…figuratively speaking, of course! When the weather changes and every luxury ski chalet in France becomes a dreamy summer holiday hangout, an incredible range of world-class events sees the region undergo a huge transformation.
After all, there’s far more to this stunning neck of the woods than skiing alone!
So if you’re considering private chalets in the 3 Valleys for this summer and wondering what to check out while in town, here’s a quick rundown of the best summer events in The 3 Valleys:
Fete de la Musique – June 21
To coincide with the summer solstice, the annual Fête de la Musique sees cities, towns and villages across France burst into life with incredible music. Musicians from all over the world line the streets, bars, restaurants and cafes, adding up to an incredible sensory experience unlike anything you’ve encountered before. And as always, pretty much every resort spanning the 3 Valleys will be taking part in this year’s Fête de la Musique – Meribel in particular.
Tour de France – July 2 to 21
How about checking out the most important and famous cycle race on the face of the Earth? You really don’t have to be an avid fan of cycling to get a real kick out of seeing the spectacle that is the Tour de France in person. The race will once again include stages stopping by at both Megeve and Albertville – both of which can be reached with ease from resorts across the 3 Valleys.
Jazz Festival in Brides Les Bains – July 8 to 11
What’s the best kind of jazz concert? Easy – a free jazz concert featuring some of the world’s most incredible talent! Throughout this three-day jazz extravaganza, revellers will be treated to an array of free concerts at the Parc Thermal of Brides Les Bains, culminating with a headline performance Saturday by ‘Gipsy nouveau’. And just in case you didn’t know, the frontman is none other than the founder of the Gipsy Kings!
3 Valleys Addict Tour: Mountain Biking Weekend – July 9 and 10
If you’re into the kind of cycling that’s less about relaxation and more about routes that require mandatory body armour, this might just be the event for you. It’s a seriously intensive and extreme cycling event that makes the most of the rough and rugged terrain of the 3 Valleys, in the absence of the snow.
Bastille Day – July 14
To say that Bastille day is kind of a big deal would be quite the understatement to say the least. A hugely important national holiday, they never fail to celebrate in true style in Meribel in particular, culminating in a spectacular fireworks show at around 10pm.
Frappadingue Alp X’Trem – August 28
Also rather on the extreme side of things, the famed Frappadingue Alp X’Trem is a world away from any obstacle course you’ve attempted to tackle before. Not for the faint-hearted, around 5,000 brave souls each year pit their wits against 40 challenging obstacles over the course of 12km.
Courchevel X-Trail – August 6 to 8
Last but not least, combine the most beautiful countryside vistas on Earth with a hugely challenging cross-country race and you have yourself the famed X-Trail. There’s a 54km route, a 33km route, a 20km route, a 9k route and even a 2.3km route available for kids – fun for the whole family…sort of!
As you can see, the 3 Valleys is full of things to see and do all year round. If you want to attend one of these great events then check out the availability of our luxury chalets in Meribel and Courchevel.
