Luxury New Year’s Ski Holiday
New Year’s Eve at home can be great, but when it comes to the logistics and complications involved in organising your own festivities…well, let’s just say it’s hardly surprising more people than ever before are ringing in the New Year overseas. And when it comes to welcoming the New Year in style, what could be better than your own super-opulent luxury catered chalets in France?
When you put in the hands of the world’s most capable and reputable gourmet chalet companies, you literally relieve yourself of every single burden and responsibility. Today’s very best Courchevel and Meribel luxury ski chalets feature everything from private hot tubs to full five-star catering to private airport transfers and so much more – it’s the true dictionary definition of an ultra-elite all-inclusive deal.
But of course it isn’t only about the accommodation, although you could easily spend several months in these kinds of chalets and still never tire of the exclusivity. When it comes to the kinds of resorts that know exactly how to do things properly when it comes to New Year’s Eve, it’s pretty safe to say that the world’s most iconic ski resorts do it better than pretty much anywhere else. That is, assuming you’re lucky enough to secure yourself a spot there in the first place – resorts spanning the Three Valleys really are like gold dust throughout the entire Christmas and New Year period!
If you do happen to bag a place however, rest assured you are absolutely in for the time of your life…and then some.
New Year’s Eve Party in Courchevel 1650
For example, make your way to Courchevel 1650 and the annual New Year’s Eve party at Le Portetta Fire and Ice bar is undoubtedly one of the best. You’ll find it’s surprisingly quiet and tranquil throughout the afternoon, though things do tend to pick up when happy hour kicks in between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Bar Le Schuss makes a great place to refuel on traditional Savoyard cuisine, while The Funky Fox provides the tunes to keep you dancing well into the morning hours.
Courchevel 1850 New Year’s Party and Fireworks
One of the most fantastic fireworks displays you are ever likely to lay eyes on takes place above Courchevel 1850. But then again, this isn’t exactly the kind of place you’d expect to spare any expense whatsoever on these kinds of festivities! There’s an outdoor party close to La Croisette which kicks off at about 9:00 PM and continues for much of the night – the fireworks taking place at midnight. You might want to arrive early however as getting in and out as the clock approaches 12 is rather on the difficult side to say the least.
Méribel New Year’s Eve Party
And of course, there’s always the opportunity of seeing the way they do things in Méribel on New Year’s Eve, which is once again the kind of place you’ll find yourself absolutely spoilt for choice. It would be something of a tragedy not to at least take a look at the frenzied action going on at Rond Point or Folie Douce before, but regardless of whether you’re out for a heavy party or a quiet evening with the family, you’ll find everything right there on your doorstep.
