What’s new in Courchevel for the 17/18 Ski Season
Courchevel is without doubt one of the most luxurious ski resorts in the world. It’s a firm favourite with skiers all over the globe, and improvements have been made in the off-season to make this world class resort even better. From new ski lifts to more snow cannons, the added touches will benefit everyone’s Courchevel ski holiday and make for yet another remarkable season. Find out what’s new in Courchevel for the 17/18 ski season and start counting down the days to winter!
Brand New Ski Lift
How does less time on ski lifts and more time skiing sound? Well, 22 million euros have been spent this year to replace the old gondola lift, which has been there since 1974. “We strive to protect the area in which we live and work,” said Courchevel’s ski area director Thomas Thor-Jensen. “That means having installations which consume less energy and are less restrictive on the land on which they stand.” Not only has this made the lift system more environmentally friendly, but it will also be faster and more comfortable for passengers. Now you’ll be able to reach the summit in less than 7 minutes!
A 3000M Toboggan Run
This is probably the most exciting new feature coming to Courchevel this winter, and we absolutely cannot wait to give it a try. A car racing themed toboggan run will make its debut, hosting a whole range of surprises. With four tunnels and a 450m vertical descent you’ll really be putting your skills to the test. This run will be open every afternoon and you can even do some night time tobogganing! Get to the very top and race your family and friends down this adrenaline-charged run; a not-to-be-missed experience during your stay in Courchevel. We have a sneaking suspicion this could end up as one of the the most exciting ski runs in the Three Valleys.

Improved Children’s Area
When you’re on a Courchevel ski holiday it’s the finer details that make your trip truly special. If you’re travelling as a family then you’ll be delighted to hear that a second magic carpet has been installed in the Piou-Piou Club’s Secret Garden, which takes the little ones back to the top after their little ski run. One of the magic carpets isn’t as steep either, so the children who are new to skiing will be able to use this one to progress at their own pace. All of this means you can relax knowing your family is having a great time in Courchevel.
More Snow Cannons
This year is all about being eco-friendly, with the newly installed snow cannons being more efficient and economical than before. There are now 115 new snow cannons in spots around Courchevel, taking the overall total up to 714. This means that over half of Courchevel’s entire ski area can be covered by snow cannons, helping to make those powder days even more special. More snow equals more skiing so news like this is always welcome!

Cowboys and Indians
The children are spoilt for choice this year in Courchevel, and this year they can even go exploring and discover the Cowboys and Indians area, which has tons of fun activities. You can meet ‘Loup Gris’ (Grey Wolf) in his tipi encampment for archery, face-painting, toasted marshmallows and stories of brave adventurers. On top of this there’s the ski area, with slopes which are ideal for beginners, with gentle, wide pistes and easy access.
