There’s a chill in the air and the leaves are beginning to fall, this means one thing: Winter is coming. And once again the 3 Valleys is open for business, welcoming people from all over the globe for another magical winter holiday. Meribel is known for its top of the range skiing, amazing nightlife, 5-star food and accommodation, but it also hosts an array of fun winter events for everyone visiting! We’re here to help you add the best upcoming winter events in Meribel into your calendar to maximise your holiday.
BBQ & Quiz at Evolution Bar – 21st October
Fun, food and games, what more could you want from a Saturday night? Get your thinking cap on and join the Evolution Bar for a night of quiz fun! Arrive at 7pm for lots of fine food and drinks before the quiz kicks off at 10.30pm.
Meat Platter: €18 per person
Faux Filet, BBQ Ribs, Chicken Goujons, Pork Belly, Prawns and all served with homemade chips, grilled tomatoes, grilled mushrooms and salad.
Vegetarian Platter: €18 per person
Stuffed Aubergines, Stuffed Peppers, Falafel, Baba Ganoush, Harissa and served with homemade chips, grilled mushrooms and tomatoes and salad.
Beaujolais Nouveau – 16th November
This is why France is so great, they have a whole day to celebrate wine! Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine made from Gamay grapes and was made to celebrate the end of harvest. Join in the tradition at one of the many bars that host wine tasting sessions. If you’re a wine lover, this event is not to be missed.
This Is Home Premiere – 8th December
Head to The Lodge to watch the ultimate skiing movie! The film chronicles what it means to be a freeskier today and follows professional athletes around the world and how they ski back in their hometowns. Expect giveaways, prizes, delicious food and a fantastic bar!

Ski Area Opening Day – 9th December
Get your ski and boards ready because the day is here! Saturday the 9th is the 1st day of winter in Meribel, the brand-new ski lifts are all set and the snow is ready for you. There have been changes on and off the pistes to improve your skiing experience this year, we’re not sure how it can improve from last year’s amazing ski season but anything is possible in Meribel!

Piste de L’Himalaya by Night – Fortnightly
Night sledging, music, hot chocolate and marshmallows! We can’t contain our excitement for this event and luckily, it’s on 2-3 times a month, so you’re guaranteed to not miss out on this one! Bring the whole family and head to the summit of the Yeti Park with the Combes chairlift from 17:30, enjoy the night views of Meribel and sledge down the green Himalaya run.
It’s €10 for the evening or €5 for one go, but best of all it’s free for children under 13 if accompanied by an adult.
New Year’s Eve – 31st December
If you’re heading to Meribel for NYE, you’re guaranteed to head into 2018 in style! When it’s creeping up to midnight, be sure to join the masses of people going to the town centre for the big countdown. A Huge fireworks display and champagne corks will explode into the air at midnight so be sure to mind your heads!
Make sure to plan ahead if you want to go out partying in one of the amazing Meribel bar/clubs, many of them require tickets which will sell out fast! So, make sure you check their websites and social media so you don’t miss out.

Celebrations for Russian Christmas – 6th January
So, Christmas is over and the January blues are starting to kick in…Not in Meribel. The celebrations don’t stop here, on 6th of January, Meribel throws a big Christmas party for Russia! Start off your evening of partying with complimentary mulled wine and hot chocolate at Chaudanna, along with a torch-lit descent, ESF ski snow and another firework display to enjoy! What’s a party without a DJ? Good job DJ Truck will be providing the best music for you to dance to.
Europa Cup – Skiing Speed Events – 17th till 21st January
So, you get to ski and watch some of the world’s top skiers compete on your Meribel holiday! The skier will be taking on the legendary Roc de Fer piste in Super-G, Combined (Super-G and Slalom) and Downhill.
Here’s a rundown of the daily events:
• Wednesday 17/01: Descent Training
• Thursday 18/01: Descent Training
• Friday 19/01: Descent
• Saturday 20/01: Alpine Combined
• Sunday 21/01: Super G
In case you’re unsure of the events:
Super-G: A mixture of speed and technique, the Super-G lies between downhill and giant slalom. Feeling for the snow at high speeds in order to do the sharper turns with finesse.
Downhill: A blend of high speeds and turns on a medium-to- steep course, making use of the natural contours of the terrain.
Ski Test Tour – 21st till 24th January/9am-5pm
4 days, 820 stores, 1,862 retailers and lots of testing! This ski event gives distributors, retailers and brands a chance to come together in Meribel to test and view the new ski ranges for 2018/19 ski season. A great opportunity to see the best skiing gear this upcoming season!
Australia Day – 26th January
Here at Meribel, we like to celebrate all cultures! So, throw another shrimp on the barby and get in your fancy dress to celebrate with the Aussies from down under! Expect lots of Australian flags, people drinking fosters and lots of hats with wine corks dangling from them.
MTB Winter Tour – 11th till 16th March
Of course, there’s much more to do in Meribel other than skiing and snowboarding, you can enjoy fat biking every day for 4 days from 9 am till 12 am, starting off at La Chaudanne. This allows you to discover Meribel in a different way and see the beautiful sights and take in the amazing views. Also getting some well-needed exercise to help with all the delicious food you’ve been eating.

Piste Bash Festival 2018 – 12th till 16th March
A festival and skiing combined? That’s what dreams are made of. Coming back for their 5th year, they bring a jam-packed schedule of local talent, regular favourites and huge names to the streets of Meribel. Including an eclectic mix of DJs and comedians. Additionally, the stages will combine open air events in the afternoons and as night creeps in, the acts will move to the Meribel bars and nightclubs for the night revellers.

3 Vallees Enduro – 1st April
Amateur skiers rejoice! This event is for you. There are tons of fun activities to enjoy, in each of the 3 Valleys resorts, including: Big Air Bag, Freeride, Giant slalom, Moguls, Skicross, Triplette des Belleville, Boardercross, Family Schuss, Adri’Naline and Speed Skiing. Anyone is welcome to join in on the fun, from beginners to pros to families. Take part in groups of threes and see if you can win the host of games! And of course, it wouldn’t be as good without a Savoyard buffet lunch to stick to your teeth into.
3 Valleys Charity Day – 11th April
Saving the best till last, probably one of the best events in Meribel every year is the 3 Valleys Charity Day. There’s a whole line up of fun, including performances from favourite local bands, a BBQ & other food tents, VIP lounge, outside bars provided by the Ski Lodge and of course, bouncy castles for the kids!
All proceeds go to the Sebastian’s Action Trust in the UK and La Ligue Contre le Cancer in France, an amazing day for an amazing cause.
