Meribel Ski Area & Ski Lift Developments for the 2011/2012 Ski Season
At the Moon Park. Three new Biorails© complete the range of eco-friendly rails and boxes this winter. New signage will allow newcomers to find their way around the park more easily thanks to 3D pictures of each course and obstacle. The Moon Park offers different obstacles so riders of all abilities can try freestyle, jumps and tricks. Whoops, boxes, rails and tables of all kind are spread over four courses of different levels, suitable for beginners to expert freestylers. Not forgetting the boarder/skiercross, to enjoy with family or friends.
The Moon Wild: the animal theme piste for children and families has expanded. Play at identifying the life-size animal models, and along the trail you will discover the wonderful range of forest fauna. Information panels provide interesting facts about these animals and their characteristics. Alongside this ski piste is a path for walkers and snowshoers; it’s a place to learn while having fun!
The Acticross: a fun area with woops, tunnel, banked turns and mini-slalom for younger children and their families. Located close to the green slopes and Moon Wild, The Acticross is open to children aged 6 and above. Easy and fun, it regularly hosts events during the school holiday periods.
New Green Run
Good news for beginners (large or small): a green piste now runs from the brand-new Saulire Express mid-station to the Blanchot piste, extending the beginners’ Ski Cool zone.
Improved signage has been installed in this brand-new area to better direct and inform skiers. The same can be found at the start of the Mauduit and Biche pistes and at the Olympe gondola.
Ski Lifts
The second leg of the Saulire Express gondola is now complete and operational, ie from the mid-station of Saulire to the top of the Tournier couloir, where a breath-taking view greets you as you exit the eight-seat cabins. The first leg of the gondola lift from la Chaudanne will be operational by December 2012. This €20 million project will offer skiers a more comfortable ride and reduce the journey time. The previous journey time of 22 minutes will be reduced to 12 minutes, from la Chaudanne all the way to the top of the Tournier couloir!
Sérénicimes
The Sérénicimes system, installed on the Golf and Plan des Mains fast chairlifts, allows you to be whisked to the peaks in maximum safety and comfort. Devices positioned between the legs allow both children and adults to lean forward on the safety bar in total security – journeying serenely to the summits.
A Fresh Skiing Experience
The VIP Early Morning Ski is a unique and magical experience that’s well worth trying. Yes, it means an early start. But skiing like a VIP in the morning before the lifts open and breakfasting at the top of the slopes, surrounded by a 360 ° panorama of the Alps and Mont Blanc, is a rare privilege that is worth the effort. It happens every Tuesday from 15 February to 10 April. Fee: 18 Euros, payable at the Chaudanne Méribel Alpina lift office. Offer reserved to holders of a 6-day 3 Vallées pass or a 3 Vallées Liberty pass.
