10 Summer Sports Activities In Meribel
It’s common to assume that as one of the world’s most incredible ski destinations, Meribel is to some extent a one trick pony. In reality however, nothing could be further from the truth as while Meribel is indeed a winter sports paradise above and beyond most, it also serves up limitless thrills and entertainment opportunities all throughout the summer.
So while this year’s winter season may still be quite some time away, here’s a quick rundown of 10 awesome reasons to check out Meribel in the summer:
1 – White Water Rafting
The mother of all white knuckle adventures is served up in Meribel in spectacular style. You don’t need any experience, just nerves of steel and a group of friends willing to go on the adventure of a lifetime with you.
2 – Canoe Rafting
Canoe rafting is a little like white water rafting though in this case, in a canoe. So rather than you being in a larger boat with plenty of people around you, it is you and one other person vs the river. Suffice to say, it is one hell of a thrill ride.
3 – Canyoning
For those who prefer to get well and truly stuck into something as physical as it gets, canyonning ticks all the right boxes. From cliff jumping to rapid riding to climbing to abseiling and so much more, just as long as you know how to swim you will be fine.
4 – Mountain Biking
The melting of the snow may not please winter sports fans, but it does at the same time reveal some of that country’s most incredible mountain biking routes. From gentle rides to professional grade challenges, it is all here in spades.
5 – Paragliding
Take to the skies with nothing but a sheet of fabric and a large fan standing between you and certain death. Well, there will of course also be an instructor there, so it isn’t quite as scary as it sounds.
On the slightly more civilised and relaxed end of the spectrum, you could also try out Meribel’s fantastic golf course which boasts absolutely unbelievable views.
7 – Skydiving
And then on the slightly more crazy side of the fence once again, there are also plenty of sky diving opportunities around Meribel for those looking to really amp up the adrenaline.
8 – Walking and Hiking
Back on solid ground, walking and hiking can be as easy or as challenging as you like in Meribel. No matter where you head however, the rewards are always the same – quite spectacular.
9 – Flying Lessons
And once again back in the air, Meribel has an Aero Club which offers a surprising array of activities for those who don’t yet have their pilots license, including the ability to take your very first flying lesson.
10 – Clay Pigeon Shooting
Last but not least, if you’d like to get your hands on a seriously dangerous firearm and head out on a hunt without the guilt of actually killing anything, you could always try your hand at clay pigeon shooting with one of the world’s most incredibly beautiful backdrops.
